L.F. Jennings Honored with Industry Awards

In recent months, L.F. Jennings’ work has been recognized with awards from a variety of industry associations.
Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington
L.F. Jennings received awards from ABC’s Excellence in Construction awards in two categories:
1515 New York Avenue NE is a design build project for Douglas Development in partnership with Bignell Watkins Hasser. The 80,000 SF building in DC’s up and coming Ivy City neighborhood includes a full-size Target, below grade parking, and two-story retail and commercial space. 1515 New York Avenue won in the Retail over $5M category.
The 70,000 SF Whole Foods Market at the Boro is the east coast flagship store for the influential grocery chain. It was designed by MV+A Architects and features a few new concepts for Whole Foods, including a street-food like eatery, event space, and bar with outdoor seating area. This project won in the Best Retail Interiors category.
NAIOP DC|MD
Renovations at 1501 M Street NW sought to reposition and repurpose a classic downtown office building, embracing, and building on recent office trends with a pioneering new concept dubbed “Town Hall” by MRP Realty. Designed by MGMA, the project transformed the lobby from a through-space to a lounge with conference amenities and property management administration areas. Floors 2 through 4 comprise the larger part of the renovation and feature a monumental stair which centrally connects the three floors. This central hub serves as the predominant thoroughfare between the floors and engages tenants and visitors into the variety of common areas along the vertical through-way.
1501 M Street received an Award of Excellence in the Best Interiors – 25,001 – 75,000 SF category.
GRACRE
L.F. Jennings received two honors from the Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE).
The new Lumber Liquidator Headquarters took over the former Southern Season gourmet grocery store at Gumenick’s Libbie Mill-Midtown development. The new 53,000 SF space serves as the headquarters for this national retail corporation. Designed by Wendel Companies, the space is highly curated and representative of the Lumber Liquidators branding.
The project received the Top Adaptive Reuse Project.
The Whole Foods at Sauer Center is the first phase of Sauer Properties’ ambitious overhaul of the former Pleasants Hardware and current Sauer Foods headquarter campus. The 46,000 SF grocer serves as the anchor tenant for this redevelopment that now includes several new tenants in repurposed industrial buildings, a new 5-story parking structure, and public plaza.
The Whole Foods at Sauer Center was awarded Project of the Year.
